You are refering to the use of virtual in pC++. we have "overloaded" its
meaning. in a collection when a field or member function in the methodOfElement
category is labeled as "virtual" it means that it WILL be supplied by the
element class. in some ways this is like a virtual pure member in an abstract
class.
we probably should have used a new keyword, but there does not seem to
be any conflict with this "overload" of the existing keyword.
