Installations

GT4 services are installed on the following hosts and ports:

• rainier.extreme.indiana.edu:8443
• chinkapin.cs.indiana.edu:8443
• lead.extreme.indiana.edu:8444
• linbox1.extreme.indiana.edu:8443

Hopefully we'll have all of these on the the default port of 8443, but we have some preexisting services that prevent putting GT4 on the default ports on those hosts.

Keep in mind that RFT is installed on rainier and linbox1 but not the other installations. WS-GRAM on all installations uses the RFT service on rainier.

Getting Started

I've personally found the Globus Toolkit Quick Start to be helpful for getting started. It focuses on installing GT4, but it also shows how to verify an installation using command line tools.

As a simple little test to see if things are properly set up, here's how to run /bin/date using WS-GRAM.

$ export GLOBUS_LOCATION=/usr/local/globus
$ source /usr/local/globus/etc/globus-user-env.sh 
$ grid-proxy-init
$ globusrun-ws -submit  -s -F rainier -c /bin/date
