The second set of experiments measured serialization and deserialization performance of a linked list and an array of doubles using Sun, Nexus, Apache SOAP and nanoSOAP serialization and deserialization implementations. Apache SOAP [14] is a reference implementation of SOAP v1.1 based on IBM's SOAP4J implementation. The serialization and deserialization tests did not involve any communication and so factor out network vagaries. Tests were performed for all of the architectures. Appendices C and D contain figures showing the overall results for Test B.
